That Drop Pod looks scary as hell rules wise.

It will be scary to face tyranids who drop a Dimachaeron or a SWARMLORD wherever they want. But getting 5 barbed stranglers on a decent platform for 100 points makes me far more worried.

But if it pushes people away from the silly 3+ flyrants I am cool with it.

And holy crap that sporocyst is so cool.

Till they can assault the turn they arrive... not worried about it at all. Just have to apply firepower on key units to break them.

After reading this I have decided that the movie "Pineaple Express" should redo one of its quotes from:

"But if you do something heroic then you'll come back as like an eagle or a dragon, or Jude Law."

    To:

"But if you do something heroic then you'll come back as like an eagle or a dragon, or Nick Rose."

Toxicrenes in pods will be fun.

the 5 barbed stranglers are a neat idea, but each gun shoots independently at its closest target in arc not all guns at the closest target to the pod. So it's probably not worth the upgrade cost.

"arc". that needs an FAQ. Monstrous Creatures have a 360 degree arc. until they FAQ that part, RAW they fire all 5 weapons at the same nearest model.

5 pie plates is really nice.

"arc" is a bad choice of word, but the instinctive fire says each weapon shoots independently at the closest model in range and line of sight. Then it says each weapon can fire at a different unit. My take on this is that range and LOS would be taken from each gun individually and not from the model as a whole.

Sure - but MC's have 360 LoS. I'd like to see the rule in its entirety before I get in on this because reading is fun. Either way, you may still be able to drop the pod in such a way that it can manage to deliver all 5 templates on a unit.

Also - Venom Cannons would be my choice. It's 6 str ap 4. Barb stranglers do have the larger template and pinning but are str 4 ap 5. eh... It's BS 2 and it has to shoot at the closest thing. Large Blast could be a lot more entertaining!

No, it can't. at Int 10, they detonate. There is no option.
with 40k its best to get the rules straight then apply imagination and rationalize; you will only get annoyed doing it the other way round
