Oh wait, I'm thinking most companies that fail. It's a damned miracle GW is still in business.

Not to get into an argument (because I agree with you in principal) but I think it will be more like a massive spike every time a new codex comes out (lets assume 3 per year for each system, 40k and Fantasy) followed by an increase in sales across the board for all system sales (IE whenever a new 40k codex comes out, even tau sales will increase up to something almost sustainable, while the new-codex-army-sales are very good). This averages out to something that I don't think would work if they updated all armies at the same time.

I'd be interested if they tried this for 6th edition, but I bet within a year they would re-break it to artificially stimulate sales.

The thing for me is, since every codex isn't updated together you get situations all over the place like Adam's. He has many armies. That's alot of money he has spent on them. but they mostly suck when compared to the latest and greatest. Like, we have to go out of our way to say, gimp my DE or it would be not fun to play his tyranids. I know tyranids are updated but still. I just wish they would update every codex, I think they would end up making more money this way.
