Thread: 30k Event of some kinda 2/6/16 or 2/20/16

I think no xenos for the first one; maybe talk about how to house rule them for 30K play after more games have been played. Escalation on a game basis would be cool, but doing three linked escalating events would also be cool (then you could give bonuses for winning from one event to the next), but that may also be a thing for later. The advantage to the three linked events is of course that you would have more participants if they only need to have the lowest value completed to play the first one.

If xenos were allowed I would propose Daemons, Orks, Eldar (Dark, CW, Harlies) only, following Age of Darkness detachment only (ie 3 HQs, 4 Elites, LoW = 25% of army max) with no formations or non-extant characters.

I'd say lets try without xenos? Stick to the books? Allow counts as from current 40k (meaning 40k marines and chaos coukd rep a legion. Also AdMech and IG). But add a category to painting scores for fluff appropriate 30k.

edit: I actually agree with tyson, although not exactly how he phrased it. I think it's dumb to not have 30k in 40k events. But is it okay to have 40k in a 30k event? part of me thinks "Sure, why not!" because it would hypocritical otherwise. The other part of me thinks 40k stuff is actually better and would ruin the 30k vibe*. For the first one - I'd play it conservative and just run 30k only. No Xenos (even though Chris' list of xenos is actually pretty legit). Later on - play it by ear.

*30k can't ruin the 40k vibe. Playing 30k is just handicapping yourself vs 40k armies. But some players like the challenge and want to play with their toys.
