There has been a lot of discussion in the community, on these boards and other places after the Escalation and Stronghold release.

  • Do we allow these books?
  • Do we allow some units?
  • What do we do?
  • What about Screamerstar?
  • What about Xyz unit?
  • What about Data slates?

This has led to a lot of discussion, if not a heated discussion as what do we do in the community.
This leads the discussion evolving into Comp, banning units or limiting rules in the tournaments...

This is all great but we need to take a step back.

What are we trying to solve for ultimately?

We have yet to seen uniform response or at least a correlated response from players as what the problems are.
We need understand these root problems within the 40k community then address them. From there we can create problem statements to solve them.
Instead we have multiple discussion and bias which are shroud discussion and limit options.
With that being said, what are we trying to solve or what is our problem statement for the community?

  • What are the true issues that need to be addressed?
  • Is it having fun? Is it problem armies?
  • Is it problem players?
  • Is it new players not coming in?
  • What is the problem?

We need to also think about this in the correct way. For example, if you are trying to cross a river. You don’t say, "We need a bridge to cross the river".
That isn’t your problem. Your problem is "We need to cross the river". This opens up options to solving the problem; you can now create a raft, build a bridge, or some other type of system.

I would like to hear what everyone’s issues or problems within the community are first, then see if we can address them.
I have ideas from hearing and listening to everyone but before I make assumptions, let’s collect information and put them down.
