Looking to get into X-Wing here shortly but need to budget. For those of you who've played a bunch how much would I be looking at spending to get a good sized faction going with a few options at 100 points?
Is it recommended to get the base set? Or could I get away with picking up individual pieces.
From what I've figured out, I'm probably looking at 100 bucks which includes the base set.

Imperial or Rebel? Firespray or Falcon?
Imperials-- definitely get 2 of the base set, unless you don't want to fly TIE fighters.
It mist be said that while many people do emphasize one faction over the other, this isn't a game that can really be thought of in that way. You will buy from both sides to get the cards you need, and its fun to mix it up and switch out factions once in a while - they play very differently.
I would say it pretty universal to pick up 2 starters. 2-6 blisters, and at least one large ship (if not one of each).
If you want to try out ships/factions there are many of us with tons of ships. I'd be happy to let you try anything out. LMK
Ok that helps me refigure my budget. I'm not sure on the faction yet but will probably pick up both to keep my options open. Is there a good crew of folks that show up to the DL Monday nights? Maybe I can pick some brains...

There's a big group of us on Thursday.
it is one of those games where it's played multiple nights, because we bleed over from other playerbases. Mondays, Thursdays, and sometimes Saturdays, there are people playing.
I'm going to try and show up Monday as well.
Doesn't really help the question raised in the OP, but I think I scored big today. I was able to pick up 2 core boxes for $40. One of them still in shrink.
Did you get them at Target by any chance? I know there were reports of the starter set being put on clearance in some locations but I could never find them.Originally Posted by Bettythebear
