A backhanded compliment is a criticism disguised as a compliment. An underhanded compliment is just a criticism.

One comment many folks had last year was increased feedback, so if we have more people to fill out feedback sheets, all the better.

The problem with feedback is that people who have no complaints (the majority) don't fill them out. While whiners and tattle-tales do.

Does anybody else find it odd, by the way, that the information age has led to language becoming an oblique and imprecise tool where even the most straightforward phrasing is pored over with chicken entrails and bone tossing to divine the true meaning?

I'm pretty sure he was referring to feedback from the painting judges as to why they scored the entries how they scored them. Not feedback for the event as a whole.

One comment [from the participants in the painting competition] last year was increased feedback [from the judges], so if we have more [judges] to fill out feedback sheets, all the better.

This is how I read it. Jim, please correct me if I'm putting words in your mouth.

I'm going to be bringing the Adepticon rules and my project plans if anyone wants to discuss this Thursday.

I will hopefully be up there this thursday, in which case I'll get in my one game of the night and spend the rest of the time hanging out and talking shop, so I'd be around for this.
