    brush recommendations?

My brushes are falling apart on me and I decided that this time I need to actually put a bit more money into my tools and get some brushes that will last through more than a single army. I have been using citadel brushes and some cheaper brushes from hobby Lobby.

what brands and sizes would you all recommend? mostly need brushes for medium areas on infantry (currently using a #3 round) and a smallish detail brush (using #1 brushes now)

I use that brush in size 0 to do all infantry. Dreads and bigger get the airbrush.

Ok my weapon of choice is Windsor & Newton Series 7 brushes. For most work I use the #1 brush. I have #0 which primarily gets used for glazes and, layering and blending. My detail brush is a #3/0 aka the famous triple aught. I highly recommend this brush. They are usually on sale at Asel's Art Supply and at Jerry's Artorama. You can also get them from Dick Blick. Reaper also makes Kolinsky Sable brushes which I've heard are better than GW's.

Does anybody else find it odd, by the way, that the information age has led to language becoming an oblique and imprecise tool where even the most straightforward phrasing is pored over with chicken entrails and bone tossing to divine the true meaning?

Jerry's has a Kolinsky Brush that is in the brush section - towards the front of the store in a small box. You will see 9-12 dollars per brush for this but they last so much longer. I have gone through 3 brushes since the class we took at Jims last summer - and you know how much I paint. I used the 1 pretty much all the time.

Army Painter Precise Detail is my brush of choice for most models. I then use a little simple green in my cleaning water (to remove the dried paint), and a little brush soap to keep the shape. All in all, I've been very pleased. 1 brush has lasted me more than 4 months...

I've always gone the route of "Buy crappy brush, when it craps out, buy another" from Hobby Lobby.

Haven't been disappointed yet, and I don't mind losing or ruining brushes because they aren't $12 brushes.

With the exception of one Fine Detail brush from PP, all my brushes come from Wal-Mart's arts & crafts section, in sets of 6-8 with purple handles for about $8 a pack.
