Are Dakkajets worth it: A tournament list prep thread

So yeah basically I'm writing my list for railhead rumble, thinking about what to bring with orks. Since its 1850 I can't do my tired and true and so I dropped the burna boyz and the looted wagon that carried them. This, ironically, leaves me about 150pts to throw around. My question to everyone is whether or not buying a Dakkajet is worth it or not.

If not I have kannons which are always useful, or I could stick with zzzapp guns to fill the points gap. Oh and also using Old Zogwort so perhaps that extra waaaagghh will pop up now and again.

Pretty much I'm asking y'all if its worth buying a Dakkajet.

Get in touch with your inner Ork and say these two words:

    Dakka. Jet.

Totally worth it! Any Warboss worth his teef wants a flying dakka platform.

Okay I got one for (relatively) cheap on amazon. Oh dear, now does anyone have a link to where I can get a copy of their rules?

I'm not a huge fan of single dakka jets. It's good firepower for its cost, but if you play against anyone with a quad gun it's very likely to crash before it even gets to its shooting phase. You'll really want two or three to get your money's worth out of them, just to ensure one of them actually makes it onto the table (and possibly even gets to fire the following turn, too!).

Yeah I guess. I'm only buying one of them Matt. I'm basically trading the expendable Deff Dread for an expendable plane that may or may not be very useful at helping me fight flyers.

S6 helps against other dakka jets (he who comes off reserve first loses a flyer!), but a necron flyer list is going to be more flyers than you can bring down before getting brought down, and the other scary flyers are AV12 (which S6 just isn't very effective against). Lootas might be better - they're only half as effective against air targets as they are ground targets, but that's still better than most alternatives. I'm not sure how that works out for FOC or points though.

I think the dakka jet is fine, I'd just be leery about how vulnerable it is without more than one.
