Yeah on second look, that's causing the EC mini to suffer, as well. Even in the warzone they're fighting in, you have to take into account what the eye will see from 3 feet, and a scattershot of weathering just makes the model look like you painted it and then ran it through a rock tumbling machine.

I don't get it. They have the art work. Can they not just figure out what color the original artist used and say "oh yeah, this is the color you need" -- especially in the case of the Emperor's Children. If only they had a paint company they were contracted out to that could make a new line of paint specifically for the HH era... and call it Horus Heresy Paint Set or something.

Anyone who isn't color blind can look at the Sons of Horus paint job, then at the art work and plainly see those two greens are not even remotely similar.
with 40k its best to get the rules straight then apply imagination and rationalize; you will only get annoyed doing it the other way round

Where did those white patches come from for the EC? That makes no sense!

There's an armor scheme in the Betrayal book that has some white... might be an apothecary, can't remember.

That's exactly it; a good analogy. Let me also add "bleh".

An Apothecary and perhaps the Palantine Blades that decorate some armor sections platinum? But I think that is their original color (all of the legions, an off white, unpainted color of the armor) before they saved the Emperor and painted their armor "imperial" purple. Also, white shoulder pad with the Palantine Eagle (all this on pg. 103).
