    yeah the whole thing is free hand but the maelstrom is just different splotches of paint.

    You might just think to use Chainmail washed by Badab Black instead. The chainmail pigments are much smaller and leads to a smoother finish. I've pretty much stopped using Boltgun Metal because of that same chunky appearance.

    oh okay I might try that. I still like the Bolt Gun on big sections of metal like on tanks but on small details like the bionic arm you are probably right.
