    Hey Tim,

Welcome to the group. I am not sure who plays Battletech and Heavy Gear in the Austin area but a good place to start would be asking Larry at Dragon's Lair. For Flames of War the locals generally congregate at Great Hall Games.

Wasn't there something about an edition change for flames of war? If I remember correctly, it was something really cool like in February people could trade in their 2nd edition books for miniature (but still 100% complete) 3rd edition books, then the corebook comes out at retail next month.

Something to doublecheck if you're starting flames of war but don't have the books yet.

Really hope we have more Battletech players. I loved that game and that is what got me into Table top games. Havne't read the latest rules that Cataylst has put out but I am sure it's still a great game.

After reading this I have decided that the movie "Pineaple Express" should redo one of its quotes from:

"But if you do something heroic then you'll come back as like an eagle or a dragon, or Jude Law."

    To:

"But if you do something heroic then you'll come back as like an eagle or a dragon, or Nick Rose."

I'm just now trying to get back into it. The Quick-strike rules look pretty interesting actually. So far, looks like Cataylst is doing a nice job with the universe and should be releasing some more Star League stuff this year.

I honestly haven't touched Heavy Gear in years. Back in the mid-90s actually. I just purchased the new NuCoal book and alot has changed.

The way it works is you take your 2nd Ed. rule book to the store, they put a sticker on it (so you get to keep it), and they give you a 3rd Ed. mini-rule book. Pretty cool one too. Great Hall games is already doing the swap out. Got mine today!
