I've never played it. Its a pretty straightforward game with an action point system. So instead of running you would spend two APs to move twice. Or if you didn't want to move maybe you could shoot twice unless your only gun had a RoF of one or something. Expensive models get more APs or weapons that shoot twice for a single AP. Everyone gets gang up bonuses in melee so you're fighting to surround enemy models to make sure they're dead. Alternating model activation system instead of turn-based like WM or 40k.
I learned this from reading the two books they sent to BoLS for review. I was shocked by how badly written the Forcelists book was. Both books were riddled with typos. The main rulebook actually has a pretty horrific typo right on the back cover: a whole repeated sentence : http://cf.geekdo-images.com/images/pic1333282_md.jpg.
Still it has a really devoted following of fans who think its totally great. But so do a lot of terrible things. So it could be a lot of fun. Or terrible. I was curious enough to grab some minis for 75% off to add to the ones they sent to BoLS. Now I have enough for two people to play a small game.
