See you tomorrow ideally!

Well, no one showed up today that was pretty disappointing. Let me know there is anything I can change or do to add interest and get more people to show up.
Sorry, i just had real life conflicts today.
I didn't go because while I like the campaign and I like the casual lists.... Me playing against inexperienced players is just a bad idea and no fun for everyone involved :/
I Noodlers, solemnly swear not to buy any new or used models until I have completed the following
Painted my Chaos Space Marines, Dark Angels, and Imperial Guard to a tournament standard
I have taken a little break.

Thank you for all your hard work including making two zone mortalis boards which I think everyone really appreciated. IMO the missions are good and the tenor is fine which are the two main things you have control over.
As far as people not attending.
1 - it is the summer time and there are constantly people out of town and a lot of things to do other than stay indoors. John's attendance at Dragon's Lair is down as well.
2 - I am not sure Austin can support multiple communities and tournaments. South Austin has their own events and has no real reason to come to Dragon's Lair or Wonkos to play like they have in the past. The Dragon's Lair guys seem to prefer a tournament format instead of the Narrative and/or prefer to play on Sundays. Finally, there are about a dozen players I have seen drop off the local tournament circuit since I started playing 3 years ago. Bottom line I don't think Austin can support more than one weekend event per month.
3 - Wonkos does not have a community. It pains me to say this but it is true. They don't have a 40k play night. I don't think they do anything to promote the tournament. Wonkos is a Magic shop that has a 40k tournament once per month and depends on the Dragon's Lair community to come to it.
4 - One constructive feedback would be for you to do more marketing and promotion yourself. Maybe there are guys in the South Austin community that would come. However, you gotta post that on their page. Spam this page, spam the centexwar and adeptus shenanigus pages on facebook.
5 - The elephant in the room is that you did allow 30k in and it made John angry and divided your crowd. It also caused a reaction out of Ray on this board. IMO it was unnecessary and controversial and AFAIK brought no one new in and alienated at least two of your regulars. One thing you have to keep in mind when running things at Wonkos is fear of losing. Whether or not it has any basis people don't come to Wonkos to play some unknown army that will bamboozle them and that was the concern about allowing 30k. Dru bringing war convocation does not help either.
I hope this helps and you find it constructive as I care about you and I know you try to make a good experience for everyone.
Does Wonko's even still have a tournament? I don't think i've seen one since Frank stopped running them. 40k is also in a very weird place right now in Austin. I do think what a major factor of the drop off is the lack of any "wonko's" only players. The first month or two i went there, there was 5-6 new players i had never seen before. Each month i saw fewer of them. Maybe they couldn't make the commitment, maybe they moved (like ray) or maybe more competitive play scared them off. The same is true at DL. Newer players are becoming rarer and the current generation of tournament regulars is aging out or attending less.

Let me clarify something, I was not and am not angry about 30K being allowed. Am I for it being included? No, I have my reasons but, if the majority of the community wanted it in I would go along. I was against using ITC rules but we do that. I prefer tournament play, again a personal preference. Sometimes, I get a little passionate and it might appear that I'm mad. I'm not.
The reason I have not attended lately is I have been doing other things. Last year, I got pretty burnt out and decided to back away a little and do different things, like occasionally going out with my non-40K friends for a few whiskeys and catch some live music. I have been attending two to three events per month since I have been in Austin. That is about 8 years......that is roughly 192+ events not counting GTs. So, yeah I needed a break......I was starting to get cranky.

Ok I will be sure to post more in an attempt to stir up interest.
I am trying to keep a theme of running the narrative in the same month as the number of the Chaos god.
We only had a couple of people play in June for the Slaneesh artifacts
No one showed up for July's Nurgle artifacts. Perhaps we can replay this one in October
Next month will be Khorne. Hopefully I we have a good turn out and get back to having fun narrative games.
