And you get used to the cold. During our first winter in North Dakota we thought we were going to die. Second winter, we were out in t-shirts until it dipped below 40 degrees.

Still, tugging on locks at 90 below with wind chill was one of the reasons I didn't argue when the wife said we were going back to Texas one I retired.
My family moved there in 1990. My dad and brother moved in Jan. 1, which happened to be the coldest day in recorded history. I moved in the middle of January, and my mom came out in the middle of Feb. once our house in NJ sold. By early March, my brother and I were running out to get the mail in socks and t-shirts, since the temp had gone up about 40 degrees to the high 20s/low 30s. My mom nearly killed us.

We're heading up tomorrow to visit my mom. My daughters (3.5 and 5) don't really remember anything other than Texas as we moved here right after my youngest was born. They think it's cold now. I keep telling them to wait until we get to ND -- then they'll know what cold really is.

Personally, I don't mind not having to shovel snow, but I do really miss snow. And I'd much prefer cold over heat because you can always put on another layer, but you can't always take another one off. :P
