..... hate how PP is trying so hard to force IG.

It builds a type of commitment to the tournament scene as a whole, rather than only caring about certain conventions. I see what they're trying to do, but I can't say I'm impressed.

Agreed. However, I don't think it favors those who go to conventions for personal enjoyment, or those who can only attend a handful of events. Maybe I'm biased though, because I fall into both of those categories, and am jealous that I won't get that sweet, sweet trophy.

the only thing i dislike about IG so far is that in the cons i've gone too so far, IG and Masters qual steamrollers are always in the same time slot. I don't see myself ever wanting to do IG over masters if i have to choose. if they're in different time slots i will totally play both

That was one of my big fears of the format too - it would be all eHayley and eLich. This fear hasn't proven to be true. A relatively diverse set of players have won with a diverse set of lists. And unsurprisingly, the same people who have been winning the IG events are typically the players that would be my picks to win any event. So it seems that play skill is the more important factor in the format.

There have also been plenty of players who have won IG events with faction pure list compositions.

Skill vs. net-copied lists, or just Andrew being argumentative because Ret is OP?
