Space marine is a generic term. They can bully all they want. This is why they are bullies, and not trying to protect IP. If it were serious then Blizzard and Ridley Scott are in deep eggo. But they know they are on slim ground as shown by the posts Chris made. The Autor is an American and GW can go pluck themselves.

Yes, the author is American. GW's trademarks for "Space Marine" are registered with the USPTO, so I'm not sure why you even bring that up.

They could send letters to Blizzard all day and not be in any trouble. Blizzard would just ignore them. Is Blizzard going to sue them for sending a letter?

Now I'm not saying I'd run my business like GW does, but your blind hatred of them is just silly. The one to blame here is Amazon; they should have just ignored it but instead they kowtow to every media company out there at the expense of the little guy.

GW makes awesome models and a fun game, they were claiming a common trademark on a term that's been in literary fiction for decades. I read their note about protecting IP and responsibility to shareholders and all that, but it really did seem like much ado about nothing for GW to act as they did. I'm just glad the author was able to get her work back on Amazon.

I love how when anyone points out facts about GW practices being actually wrong, they're suddenly a GW hater. Yes Amazon eggoed up but GW sent the C & D, which they had little to no ground with anyways. My point is not irrational or wrong headed, and has nothing to do with hating GW. I just delight in picking on this company for their missteps. It's as if their company is run by amateur monkeys.

Mike you do hate GW. GW did **** up on this matter as they have many others just like it. That though is not the point in the accusal of you hating GW, as you do hate them. How many times have you gone on about how Reaper minis are better (in looks, cost or some such other manner not listed here) OR how vaelo/reaper paints are sooo much better? I am not saying dont have your hate, thats fine we are allowed to be who we are. Just do not deny the simple fact that some one called you a GW hater and you are attempting to deny it.

Furthermore Chris I don't particularly hate GW. I hate that a company with so much good going for it is staffed and ran by morons. Huge difference. As for their paint, I don't hate it as much as I prefer other paint. The only GW Armies I think are ugly are dwarves, elves, and the extra-chromosome empire state troops. Once again not hate. I just prefer a different look. I quit complaining about prices because it doesn't matter. It's like complaining that Cadillacs are over priced. Instead I do what every reasonable person does who wants luxury items at beer prices: I buy used.
