    Relic Knights Kickstarter

Hey there, I might have mentioned it to some people when I was up there on Sunday, but I'm sure some of you have heard of CoolMiniOrNot and the game by SodaPop Miniatures called Relic Knights! Currently they are running a rather successful kickstarter which is going to end in 4 days. I'd be remiss if anyone who wants to get in on the really good deals with their stupid number of stretch goals missed out.

All sorts of information about the models and game here with Quick Start Rules floating around somewhere and a Video of gameplay which looks pretty neat and is a cool card resource based system.

Sidenote: I can understand if people don't care for the content of the minis and the over the top animeness but you have to admit they are very good looking models.

I backed it and have played it at a couple of cons. It looks like a nice break from the grimdark world that is pretty much every other minis game.

Mechanics wise its really no more similar to Malifaux than Malifaux is to say... Warmachine. Malifaux just uses the card flip mechanic to replace dice for randomization with the added cheating and soulstone parts. The Relic Knights cards are resources that you have to spend to do anything. There are 6 colors in varying amounts on different cards. So you might need 2 blues and a green to make a thing happen. If you don't have the resources to do it you can't even attempt it. You have to figure out something else to do. Its pretty different from anything else out there which is another reason its grabbed my attention. It also doesn't seem nearly as complicated as Malifaux which makes it a better side game for someone like me whose brain is already too full of warmachine rules.

Yeah I watched the demo game and understand the Relic Knights rules. I didn't know about Malifaux but I had heard people compare the two so I was like, "kay?"

Oh and they just released more optional minis. These things are going to be so much fun to paint.

I'm in like Flynn. Relic knights is , for all intents and purposes, Pokemon TCG:the minis game. That's awesome

I just can't get "behind" these minis, if you know what I mean...

I used to watch a fair amount of anime, would still buy pretty much anything at all Ghost in the Shell related... but this much T&A isn't funny or self-aware fanservice, it's just sexist.

Looks like they've reacted to the onslaught of comments about that same sentiment and are working on alternate sculpts for a few of the Relic Knights to make them "Battle Poses" instead of Pin-up models.

Of course, that really doesn't change Togan and Cecilia which I agree is a little too far over the line.
Oh and most of the Cerci Speed Circuit.
