Thread: Snow effects

I'm sure there's no absolute right answer, but what method have people been happiest with when creating snow effects on bases? Is it worth it to buy a "modeling snow" product or is baking soda just as effective (and probably cheaper)? And if you do go with a manufactured kind, do you have a preference? I've seen a lot of stuff out there promoting Woodland Scenics stuff over GW and GF9, but I'm sure a lot of that's completely subjective. Also, as good as some of the videos and photos posted are, it's obviously difficult to get an accurate assessment of texture.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

They only had "Soft Flake Snow" instead of just "Snow," so I'm not sure if there'll be any noticable difference in texture or whatever, but we'll see if that works ...

The snow paste idea, is really not the best. First you must use a non-yellowing PVA glue. Second it adheres poorly, and third the effect looks artificial. Watch the this video by Woodland Scenics and I think you'll get some great ideas how to use their products.
