Help Wanted - Blood, Gore, and Guts

I'm gonna need all the help I can get on this one. I'm wanting to model and paint a space marine gored on the spikes of a dozer blade, but I'm not finding any good guides on painting/modelling blood and guts. What I'm gonna go for is a Marine impaled through the chest, with the lower half of his body missing, and ribbons of guts hanging out (hooray greenstuff). For painting the blood, it'd probably be something like blood red/ red gore mixed with some badab black and given a light gloss varnish coat.

I'd really appreciate any advice on this. Thanks!

Testors metalic red works great for blood ......and it's glossy.

Tamiya makes a transparent red acrylic that I've seen used to good effect for blood. As for ribbons of blood, take a hair and run superglue on it, building up some variations in the thickness, glue it where you want it, paint some coats of the tamiya clear red over it, and you'll get a good "blood drip" effect.

There's a spacewolf contemptor out there with a torn in half 1k sons model on the base, he used a fantasy corpse bit and some power armour. I think, which took care of a lot of guts work. If I have the bit I'll get it to you tomorrow with the TH/SS.

My shiney-slick guts recipe: (old paint names, obviously)
    solid Liche Purple
    heavy drybrush Blood Red
    light drybrush Blazing Orange
    *let dry*
    wash Baal Red
    *let dry completely*
    light Gloss Varnish
    *let dry completely*
    light Gloss Varnish

It works well for me. Hope it helps.

I was also going to reccomend starting with a purple base, then hitting it with reds. For a fresh flowing blood try then washing with purple or blue wash lightly over the reds. Then gloss that sh*t.

Give a man fire, and you keep him warm for a night.
