Where does it say that battleforged is what requires you to follow the codex's rules? I don't think anything is specified as a trigger for needing to adhere to the rules laid out in a codex.

But I guess what matters is whether or not unbound allows you to break them... and I am assuming that means it does, but just want to know which ones.

The game breaks down if you don't follow the rules, so there's no rule telling you to follow the rules. it's mutual understanding between players in a permissive ruleset. All battleforged is, is a part of the rules detailing how you organize your army in the aforementioned ruleset.

Unbound goes further by permitting you to ignore force org charts, detachment requirements and other compulsory purchases to trigger getting a model on the board. Unbound doesn't say any model, it says any unit, so the limitation of having to buy a squad of 5 dudes is still there, you just don't care anymore what slot those 5 dudes are in or if they are required to unlock a different dude (wraithseer) or a tank (wave serpent)

    Alright - last few...

For Warlocks, it has a note that you can only have a squad "for each Primary Detachment". It is not in a special box, but rather just a string of italicized text just like the requirements of the Wraithseer identified as being ok to omit.

Can I take more than 1 squad of Warlocks? I assume yes.

More italicized text... Can I take more than 1 fortification, and of the same kind?

    You would assume correctly.

    1. Can I take less or more than a full 'required' unit choice? that is, can I take 3 wraith guards instead of the required 5 by codex?
    2. Can I take a single Exarch?

At any time during the game, either of the above is considered "a unit from my collection"

I don't think they're exactly analogous, but the fundamental restrictions put in place by the codex are being broken by all 4 scenarios above. If you can break some codex rules, and not others, I want to know which you can and can't break from TO's so I can properly make a list.

    Thanks!
I think you're right. Brandon is off base on the taking just DTs.
