Thread: Warmahordes vs. Warhammer

You know what's awesome? Imperial Guard.

You know what's awesomer? Giant steam driven walkers throwing, slamming, and headbutting each other.

Or giant beasty thingies doing the same.

I DO like the control of territory rules and how it puts emphasis on the push/slam/throw power attacks. Or am I overestimating that?

Control of territory stuff is for leagues which aren't always going on, but often enough. We just finished a league, and I think it'll be a little bit before the next one starts.

Power attacks however are fantastic and I think underused, but that depends on your opponent. I think it's a habit you have to build over time. Remembering what you can do with power attacks is something I have to work on as a player, because setting up the perfect slam/throw/trample is fun, and when it works like you want it to it is a great feeling.

God yes! I LOVE game systems with NO ability of customization! It makes me so hard!

LOL The OP was curious about what game to get into. Everyone here has a boner for warmahoards, I figured an alternate viewpoint would be appropriate.

Is that the major dig against the Warmachine/Hordes game system? That you can't customize the weapons/loadouts on a couple of your models?

Were I wanting to point/counterpoint that, I'd just say that the greater variety of combinations and tactics that play out on the battlefield in warmahordes makes up for the "lack" of customization, as well as making different lists to focus on different synergies.

Two players could play the same Warcaster in two very different ways based on their preference and playstyle. Just because you can't customize whether or not he has a melta gun or a power fist doesn't mean that he'll play the same for everyone in every list.
