Random prize support drawings, instead of competition based. That way everyone has a chance even the worst player there.
D-bag lists (we all know what they are)should be ejected from the tournament. PERIOD! Because some people have proven that they will bring D-bag lists no matter what. Send them home once and they won't return with the same list. It's no fun getting beat senseless by an over the top list and hobby games should be FUN.

I like this idea. Even if we only assigned one prize this way, I think it would be better.
Also, to mention Josh by name, that Dreadnought list is as much fun as eating glass. I like playing with Josh, but that list isn't a game against Josh; it's just figuring out how to beat the list, which just plain isn't fun. And Nick shouldn't ever bring his stupid Leafblower army again, for the same reason.
Also, remember guys DL is still a store and a business foremost. We have to find ways to work within the community and still follow DL policies. DL will have a hard time telling people they can't play in their store unless its for reasons they can't control.
For the Record I brought Tau with 100 foot infantry!

Rather than Leaf-Blower, what do you call that, the Dust-Buster?

I think " You're ****ing it up for everyone else" is a great reason. Here is another "You're running off new business".
I ran the same type of business and had no problems putting a stop to BS. Your good customers appreciate it.

If you are giving out three prizes, I'd like them to be distributed thusly:
Top prize: Best theme/coolest painted army, either player vote or judge's decision
Second prize: Randomized among non-prize winning entrants that attend all the games
Third prize: Player that finished in last place, or newest player if there's sandbagging for last place
1) Limit armour per tournament. Some weeks could be 35, others could be 300, some could have a minimum of 100. Different ideas here.
2) 30% battle/50% build/20% paint
2B)pre-tournament comp scoring. Everyone rates everyones army. Distasteful scoring could lead to expulsion. Note: this is NOT anonymous, but only judges should know who voted what for who's army.
2C) Post game comp scores. Lowest two (one from pre and one from post tournament) dropped.
Prizes:
1st: Highest total of all 3
2nd: battle+build
3rd: build+paint
I gotta agree with John on the first point fully. Maybe keep a first prize, but raffle the rest off and have them all equal - that drives attendence and I've seen this first hand in FoW tournies that were 'hobby' focused. Jim's comment on this is a good idea, too - and why not change the way prizes are done from month to month - randomly, last place, best painted, best horde player - whatever.
I agree with John's 2nd point, but think if it goes down that road we'd get into more of those hobby vs heavy discussions from the AMM days - it just gets so subjective... and a heavy hitting list in the hands of me is not the same as it is in the hands of someone that knows how to really use it.
One thing I liked seeing was Nick showing up with a Tau list that was not (according to the interwebs) a competitive build. I don't know how he did with it, but it is a good example of a competitive player coming to a game ready to play for fun and frankly gives him a lot of bragging rights if he did do good.
More of the heavy hitters should come to wreck face with ****ty list just to have the "one hand tied behind my back" victory. Afterall, reputation is everything.
