Harlequins - from Faction Codex or Eldar Codex?

Wondering if you can take a harlequin selection from either book, or if you must take them from the new codex?

Thanks... haven't been able to find a good answer on this.

If an entry is in a current book, you can take it. The harlequin dex doesn't invalidate the entry in codex eldar.

cook i think the only problem with that is TOs specifying the newest version is to be used. see also transctans and vaults
"The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age."

Gotta love GW and there vague or just straight up lack of rules in this case.

Like is there even a rule saying you can't use an old edition codex instead of their newer one? Or is that just a "house rule" everyone adopted? I ask because I never came across a rule in the BRB saying anything about old rules being invalidated etc.

Pox there are tempestus scions in the am codex and they also have their own book.

If you took the am ones you would follow the am force org but if you took the ts ones you'd follow their book force org

I am thinking the same goes for harlequins.

Difference is the harlequins codex is faction harlequins. The unit entry in eldar codex is faction eldar. Same as difference between sm and chapter codexes.

It all depends on having an agreement with your opponent, per gw rules. In organized play, TO makes that agreement a priori for all involved.
