    New eldar first run

So I played two games yesterday with Matt and Brian. I gave Matt the option of the beat stick list(list 2) or more funsies.

List 1- Avatar, Windrider host, Aspect Host(Banshees, scorpions, Shining Spears), Aspect host(Spiders, Spiders, Dragons in WS), Karandras

List 2- Windrider host(Full scats on 9 bikes), Wraith host(10 wraithguard, 5 d-scythes in WS, 5 wraithblades, Wraithknight, Wraithlord), Wraith Construct(lord)

    First Impressions:

List 2 was auto-pilot mode. I was intentionally not even using my brain in this one. Not as an insult to Matt, just cause I knew this list basically runs its self. We were both at then end thinking, yup point these few units at other units and they die. D weapons are just stupid. Scatriders when taken in full are stupid. Wraithknight while in sword and shield mode wasn't as OP, still stupidly good. 1 isn't too bad, ish. As long as you had tools to handle Wk's before, I think you will be ok for the most part. Wraithblades were fun!

Next game vs brian was a lot of fun. Karandras showing up with his buddies on the back board edge was cool! :P banshees are worth taking now, although they don't like AP4 flamers.....like at all...haha. Even more afraid of them than Harlies. They at least get a save. Shining spears are still crap for their price. They ONLY excel at maybe killing wave serpents or the like? They had trouble hurting a tac squad by themselves but meh I guess that's how they are supposed to be? Just wish they had one more attack. Warp Spiders are stupid, just stupid now. Bs5 with formation, essentially fearless with exarch and the reactive jump? Just dumb. Dragons didn't need an extra +1 damage but whatever, they were blowing up one vehicle and dying before anyhow. Avatar's new buffs are cool. I think he gained a wound this book? Pretty awesome.

So I love most of the changes. Wave Serpent Nerf, aspect changes except the spiders(dayum). The Warhost auto 6in run is pretty powerful. i think for the most part, as long as LOW is limited to 1, and maybe we do something about Ranged D? Who knows, maybe GW will add D to more codecies? Scatriders are also a problem. Other than just limiting people to 1 in 3 riders, not sure what to do about them.

so for one caldera02 was being nice when we played, so his list was probably a very normal list not designed to irritate

however at the same time it was very killy, meaning that it was competitive without being overpowered to anger your opponent

i have played one game against eldar and albeit it was not a seek and destroy list it was a fun game.

at the same time my previous game was against super friends and i am going to say as long as armies like super friends exist i am fine with eldar list #2 above

we all like to complain about eldar but if you really want something to complain about play super friends

T6, 3+ wraitguard in a WS that can put them almost anywhere on the table turn 1 is not exactly "killed easily" unless you are really lucky (understanding that Chris' opponent was able to go first and blast that WS off with a drop pod alpha strike last night ...). It may not be unbeatable, but it IS OP. Especially the flamers ...

I had actually got extremely lucky. He had taken the first turn and put the butt of his serpent against the board edge (not a terrible plan). When I came down in the bottom of 1, I got two out of two melta hits and pens. He failed both jink saves and he rolled one 1 for the serpent shield. I rolled a 4 and immobilized his wave serpent. That is the ONLY reason I even had a shot that game. I left the wave serpent alive so that the models inside would have to emergency disembark, which means they couldn't fire on the turn he got them out. I also got amazingly lucky when I charged the wraithknight with my Dante lead sanguinary guard ball and I failed to put the two wounds required on it to kill it (with 8x ST9 AP2 attacks). He also failed to kill anything with the stomp and I got stuck in combat against the WK so the d-scythes couldn't hit my sanguinary guard unit. I managed to go on to lose it 3 objectives to two, and I had 2 tertiaries to his 0. Only reason I had first blood is because his spiritseer decided to take a trip to the warp (perils, rolled a 1, rolled a 10 for the ld check, sucked into the warp), and I killed his warlord farseer with mass bolter fire from drop pods. Linebreaker just wasn't a thing because of the new, dumb linebreaker rules of 12" from deployment edge, and we were playing on hammer and anvil. Chris didn't have to think about killing any of my vehicles with the 10 man wraithguard unit. He moved 6"+his 2d6 pick highest and was always in range to fire the D. The first volley he had 5 hits and caused 25 hull points and 3 penetrating hits to my poor furioso dreadnought.

I see the new eldar as being able to let people auto-pilot to victory. I had amazing luck most of the game, and still lost pretty handily.
    For reference, my list was:
    Sanguinary Priest with Angels Wing
Furioso Dread with Frag Cannon in a Drop Pod x3
Sanguinary Guard squad with 10 members, 2 Power Fists, 2 Glaive Axe, 6 Glaive sword, and a banner.
Cassor the Damned (riding in a Fast Attack Drop Pod)
Tactical Squad with melta/combi-melta in a Drop Pod
    Knight Paladin

I'm not going to say the new wraith units aren't too strong(the flamers are), but you took like the worst possible army possible to face a wraithhost and you barely lost.

I am curious to see how Eldar will do in tournaments now. I wonder who will win between necrons, eldar, AdLance, and superfriends. (my money is on Eldar/Dark Eldar for the WWP D comboes)

and now back to the eldar rioting. *rabble*rabble*rabble*

I'm sorry? I didn't realize one of the best Blood Angel lists I could build was the worst possible army to face a wraithhost. Not to mention his army was highly unoptimized. He had a second wraithlord ffs. If instead of a second wraithlord his bike squads were 5 man with scatter lasers, I would've been easily shot off the table.
