New Imperial Agents "Codex" vs. other books about those models...

Does the new Imperial Agents codex cancel out the Inquisition rulebook from just a couple years ago? If I wanted to make a little Inquisitorial detachment, do I HAVE to use the new Imperial Agents book?

Is GW's new notion of rule-books (codices, dataslates, etc. etc.) just to sort of use whatever current-ish version a player wants? I mean, some of the newest books seem to limit, if not directly contradict, still-definitive codices.

There are so many books out I seriously doubt anyone could tell the difference anyway.

In the Wulfen book it said the units in this book replace or enhance other codexes. Then GW back pedaled and said an Iron Priest could be HQs or Elites........There is only War.....no winning......no clarity.....Only War!

Actually just the idea that I agree with all three of you makes me feel better about my conundrum.

    BREAKING NEWS!!!!

    New FAQ!!!!

    FAQs
Q: Imperial Agents seems to replace existing material but Games Workshop has indicated that players can use either the new or older material. As Imperial Agents lacks certain things present in older material, such as Servo Skulls, which do we use?
A: If you have bought and own the existing and still currently available digital Codex: Adepta Sororitas and Codex: Inquisition, you can use those over the rules presented in Imperial Agents if you wish.
