Technically, Oberyn DID get the confession he wanted so desperately to hear. And then there was a loud squishing sound.

Well the confession he really wanted was one that implicated Tywin (sp?). Not sure he got that or even heard anything the mountain said... It's going to be a while before they can introduce another character that is as universally liked; RIP Dorn man.

Obviously it needed to happen the way it did, but I much prefer the version where he stays above the Mountains head, out of reach, gets the confession implicating Tywin, stabs the Mountain in the face, and then chucks his spear, skewering that Lannister ****.

I love the Viper, and it sucks to see him go ... I wish that like in the books, we were getting more of the picture of things in Dorne. It has been awhile since I read the books, but am I remembering wrong, or hadn't we already had some of the things like Darkstar and Aryo Hootah, and some other scenes of things in Dorne by now?

As for this episode, I didn't think that overall it was as good as some of the others in this season, and I thought that the Tyrion and Jamie scene talking about the mentally challenged cousin was pointless and annoying. That being said, this final scene was amazing. I absolutely love the way they portrayed Oberyn fighting, it was awesome to watch. Also, just this death ... yes, I'm a reader of the books so I know when to expect the big deaths, but I haven't gotten the "payoff" from Joffrey's death or even the Red Wedding that I did in the books. The story is great, and i got glee from watching the reactions of the non-readers ... but as far as having an absolute gut-punch moment, I thought this was the biggest one since Ned went and lost his head, and in that sense I applaud them for how they did this scene. It elicited a great emotion from me, maybe it's just because i like the character so much ... I can't wait for some of the big moments still lingering in the next two episodes though

You're correct, Viscount. In the books we'd have visited Dorne quite a bit by now. I hear Dorne will feature heavily in the next season, they're compacting that whole storyline together.
And yes, yes, yes, and yes.
Gah! Being big and strong enough to simply cave in a person's head with your grip strength + body weight. Amazing. Shame on Oberyn for lowering his guard, letting his passions overtake his caution. Mental note: when you get a chance to kill The Mountain That Rides, you TAKE it without grandstanding.

Dude: what version are you talking about? The one you made up in your head?
