Next to the Starks (well, minus Sansa), the Dornishmen are my favorite in the book series, and Doran was such a different and stronger character there. He was a legit badass, hiding and playing the long game the way he was. To me, along with Littlefinger and Tyrion they seem to be the masters, and the best at playing this "Game of Thrones". And here they have a shell of himself getting stabbed out like that. Just sucked so bad ... *sigh*
There are other ways to go about things than to completely change his character from one of the strongest, best players of the game into a weakling softy who gets stabbed out prematurely.
Now, THAT'S some funny sh*t right there ...

The Martells are my favorite house bar none (****, they're on my avatar here) and I am pissed they technically don't exist anymore. I agree they could have gone about changing it a different way, but it did have to be pretty different to account for other changes from the books. It seems they transferred the strength away from Doran and gave it to Ellaria, and I am curious where they go with it from here.
I guess I am still just so happy with how Oberyn was portrayed and how faithfully they stuck to his story that I am not as worried with how much they have changed the story of what takes place in Dorne itself. But I get where you are coming from, for sure.
