Sportsmanship
Sportsmanlike conduct needs no explanation. You should treat all of your peers with respect, especially in a tournament environment where tensions can run high. We all need to remember that this game (and this tournament!) is intended to be fun. Unsportsmanlike conduct will be severely penalized, and can include disqualification from the event without prizes or refunds.
Section Two: Event Rules & Format
Building an Army
All players must submit an army list to the tournament organizer at the start of the event. All armies must meet the following requirements:
Armies may consist of up to 2000pts.
A second primary detachment, chosen from the same codex as the first primary detachment, may be used. Please note that the second detachment has the same requirements as the first (two troops and one HQ).
Forge World rules are allowed only for 40k approved models.
Models must be WYSIWYG (‘what you see is what you get’), with appropriate weapons and wargear displayed in a manner that’s easy for your opponent to understand.
All models must be painted to a three-color minimum. Prizes will not be awarded to players who field unpainted models.
Converted models must be mounted on an appropriate base, must be of a similar size to the official model, and must visibly represent all wargear (WYSIWYG).

Required Materials
Players must supply the tournament organizer and each of their opponents with a typed copy of their army list. Army lists must specify the number of models in each unit, all wargear and special rules.
Players must bring a Warhammer 40k 7th edition rulebook and all materials used to construct their army (codexes, Forge World supplements, digital supplements, etc.).
Players must supply their own tape measure, templates, dice, counters, objective markers, and any other tools necessary to complete their games.
Tournament Format
The Grand Tournament is a win/loss format singles event where each player is paired against a new opponent each round, and the player with the best overall score earns the title of Champion.
Players compete in 5 games over Saturday and Sunday.
Players score 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for a loss.
Strength of schedule will be used to break ties.
Painting Competition
While paint scores do not factor into your final placing in the tournament, the hobby aspect of the game is important to us. Our judges will evaluate the paint quality of every army in the main event and award a prize for Best Painted Army. We’ll be using the following rubric in order to assign paint scores:
Criteria Points Available
Are all models painted to a 3-color minimum? 1
Are all bases finished with a minimum of 2 elements (flock and sand, etc) featured? 1
Do bases throughout the army, including allies, match? 1
Are all models, including allies, painted in a cohesive manner? This includes matching weathering and paint techniques across allies to represent a cohesive battlefield, etc. 1
Are units and character models easily identifiable (through squad markings, painting techniques, etc)? 1
Are all details, including purity seals, banners, eyes, lenses, etc painted? 1
Have all models been constructed with care? Have mold lines, excessive glue, etc been cleaned? 1
Are there noticeable conversions featured in the army? Complexity is great, but strong demonstrations of skill are our primary focus. 2
Does the army feature highlighting, color transitions, etc, designed to enhance its appearance? 2
Does the army feature advanced techniques, such as weathering, non-metallic metal, original artwork, etc? 2
Does the army include a display board? Does the board match the army’s basing and tie everything together? 2
