you deploy from an access point, not the tip of a door. When you deploy from a land raider, no one drops the doors and then measures 6. it is pretty clear in the rules that you measure vehicle movement from the hull and that all models must end a disembark within 6" of the hull. there are pictures in the book to illustrate this. yes you are correct when you say you can deploy from any spot of an open topped vehicle, but nowhere did they say that you don't measure from the hull.
The door is part of the hull just like wings are part of the hull of a flyer. The difference is the flyer has a door, DPs do not as they are open topped.....even though they do have doors....like I said yesterday it is stupid.

I don't think wings or doors are part of the hull

    Then your thinking is faulty.

The hull is the watertight body of a ship or boat.

Also refers to the airframe of an aircraft or the body of a tank. Your selective definitions are tiresome mr. supervisor of people.

"The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age."

Just looked up the rule book.

    "Open-topped Transports

Open-topped vehicles do not have specific Access Points. Instead, all of the vehicle is considered to be an Access Point (regardless of any base they may have)."

I'm just not sure if Inertial Guidance moves you far enough to ensure all of the doors can open, or just far enough for it to land and only open the doors as much as you can based on the terrain.

    "Shooting at Vehicles

When a unit fires at a vehicle, it must be able to see its hull or turret (ignoring the vehicle's gun barrels, antennas, decorative banner poles, etc). Note that, unlike for other models, a vehicle's wings are not ornamental and are a part of its hull."

    Cool

I magnetized the door of my one drop pod, because it seemed more complete as a toy. Fast forward two months later and my model is a potential game breaker. Are y'all going to not be my friend if I exploit that? More than anything, playing Crimson Fists, I simply yearn to build walls.
