    Acceptance of DIY drop pods?

Ok so. I decided to take an allied force of drop pod puppies with my eldar. Now... where i Play now[witheld] I am just now learning 7th(5 games in) I quit when 7th was released, so I havent been gone long, and I started when Dark eldar were introduced, I bought the 1st battleforce and been hooked ever since(3rd edition?). All the aside(now that you know me) I am not "allowed" to play DIY pods(even tho they are same footprint/height/diameter to fins) because they are not GW product without getting the owner/manager in a temper tantrum... now... Previously when I was playing. as long as it wasnt Ard boyz ,GT, or adepticon, I NEVER had issues with people saying "You cant play that" I was brought up as a crafter, crafting is what got me into this game and was under the certainty of as long as its not a GT you are able to run up to 75%gw product 25% other and still be legal as long as it met footprint/height/Width standards where applicable.

So... change stores I play at, or just be the target of Craftbashing by the manager/owner.... I refuse to spend $50 a pop on something I made(that looks very good in numerous peoples opinions) for $3...

So they look like kit pods? How far off are they from the actual kit aesthetically?

not judging and i couldnt care less if gw made them or not, but one thing to keep in mind that a big part of the game is hobby, and some prefer to play against actual models. for some of us its not about whether or not its the same size but its about the 3 hours we want to sit down across from someone that didnt tape together some cardboard.

What if! It was made entirely out of duct tape? Would it be hobby then?

I think you guys are missing the big point. If it wasn't the store owner then I could see your points but the reason the store owner is giving you crap is because it takes money away from him. That is the crux of the issue, if you good bridge the gap in how this allows you to buy other models and keeps you spending instead of being close minded you would be good here.

After reading this I have decided that the movie "Pineaple Express" should redo one of its quotes from:

"But if you do something heroic then you'll come back as like an eagle or a dragon, or Jude Law."

    To:

"But if you do something heroic then you'll come back as like an eagle or a dragon, or Nick Rose."

If you play in GW stores you will always get crap in situations like this ... what I don't understand though is why it seems (at least in my experience) that a high percentage of 40k players seem to have issues with counts-as and alternate companies' models, whereas in WHFB (with much of the gaming population shared across both games) people love alternate companies and built-yourself conversions when done well, and if anything, you are looked to as someone who has gone above and beyond in doing something cool. Hell, to me a sci-fi setting transpiring around an entire galaxy seems to scream for conversion and counts-as models.

I think the quality of the work is the main issue with most players.
