I've not heard that confirmed yet. The latest I heard is that there will be support and space for a fantasy tournament (and three-day track), but there's no one to run it.

So, how does the 40k tournament work in regards to the formations or whatever in the new books?

Like, say you wanted to take the Khorne Demonkin formation as your army, are you not allowed to take the vehicle option more than once? Seems really silly.

So, yeah, you have to be really careful with your wording.

Your army can have up to three detachments. A Formation is a specific type of detachment, but you can't duplicate formations or detachments. So, no double CAD. Also, you can't do two of the same Formation.

How does the Daemonkin formation work? What's it made of? Like "War Engine" -- is that a formation or a data slate or... what's it called in the book?

Actually, they define it pretty well in the post Chris linked. No more questions. Poor Kevin, he can only use 3 mauler fiends instead of 4.

I don't think it's defined very well, i'm still confused when I read that. Unless they mean for people to bring multiple things from Decurion and then 2 more detachments on top of that. Or if it's just a straight limit of 3 no matter where you get them from(which makes way more sense) but I can't tell from that post.

Yeah, a lot depends on how the Codex labels its composite formations. For example, if you can take a formation that includes other formations and one of those sub-formations is 1 tank, then you can only take 1 tank because otherwise you are duplicating the 1 tank formation. Now if the sub-formation is 1+ tank data slates, then you can take as many as you want.

That's basically how I read it, too, which sucks, but eh. I can still make a Khorne list I'm happy with using Combined Arms, so I'll roll with that.

no it says you can duplicate data slates. war engine "choice" under the blood pact detachment is just a dataslate not a formation.

An army may not have a duplicate of any Detachment.
Note: This includes “Decurion Style” Detachments which are comprised of multiple data slates and Formations. They may not take duplicate Formations within the Detachment, although they make take duplicate Data Slate units within the Detachment if permitted to do so.
