Ah, so then you should be familiar with the forecast of "smoke". I remember the first time I saw that forecast on the Weather channel I thought to myself "What the...?"

Yeah... Today smelled like a burning garbage can walking from work home. With all the garbage on the street, I'm surprised I can't find much I like.

We used to get that in Athens. They use the word "nephos," for "cloud" to = "smog." I always feel nostalgic for Greece when I'm walking and get a good whiff of bus exhaust.

As I learned in my short stay in Beijing, "smoke" is an entirely different forecast from "smog". As I recall it is a combination of smog and Gobi Desert dust.

Wow. The latter's bad enough unadulterated. You could always use it for basing material ...

Glad to see being half way across the world hasn't kept you from the hobby. Any idea when you're due back? Are you coming back?

Right now were planning on coming back in February, probably moving to San Antonio until we can find jobs. That way I can play in SA and Austin with people! We'd prefer to come back to Austin, but whatever jobs we can get would be good. I'll be looking for teaching jobs (not looking good) and Lauren is looking for translating/Chinese jobs, so hopefully she will find something quickly while I find something decent to hold me over until I can start teaching.

I think I'd like to base my trolls with something really simple, like cork and sand. I'm going to test it on my Skinner and post results soon.

EDIT: Inspiration! Here is my Janissa Stonetide. Janissa is a character utility solo who shapes rocks and the earth to provide offensive/defensive abilities. I figured she needs a little more flavor than just some rocks, so here she is. Sorry about the quality, my camera isn't working.

    Janissa and the Skinner, finished:

Lauren just bought me an Island of Blood starter, so I guess I have something else to paint! Only problem is the rules and guide are in Chinese!

Nice! Just cork for the raised rock column?

Yup, I just superglued the cork, primed it, gave it a thick wash of black paint, then went to town. You can't see it with the camera, but I tried to give it a glow effect to make it look like Janissa was bringing it up.
