What is ya'll preferred method of painting white clothing, hair, etc?
There's tons of different methods, but there's some good painters here, so I wanted to see what your opinions were

I usually paint a light grey base and then white on top. However, the new base white can do the job with an extra coat.

I really like the Vallejo pale grey wash. It has more body than regular washes - I think it may just be a black wash with some fine white pigment added.

I hate doing white but in my hate have found two methods that work very well.
Reaper bone in layers gives a very good almost egg shell white.
The other way is yellow as a base and then layers of white.
All depends on how white you want, worn you go for less for storm trooper white you want bright bright white. That means lots of yellow under and pile on the white. The other trick is make sure the detail lines are super dark, so they contrast well with the white.

What brand of white? How old is the pot? Are you working over a white or dark primer?
Another trick with white, especially with a black base coat is to lay down a coat of silver and then layer the white on top. This works better than the yellow base btw.

Ceramite white, uhhhh a few months?
I prefer to work with the abandon black primer. Yes it's pricey, but I really like it, so sue me.
For funsies I painted this one model last night, where I quickly did a base coat over the metal with ceramite white, then did null oil in the recesses, and a few coats of watered down ceramite white. I can't put my finger on it, but something feels off. I think it might be due to the sculpt itself but if anyone if interested in super animu schoolgirl I can post it for critique.
Oh, and thank you everyone for your replies! I think I'll try a few of these in conjunction to what I'm just tried already.
