The refinery and the power station are great kits and reasonably priced.

Scored pvc this morning. 4x8 sheet of 3mm foamed pvc. Regal plastics at rundberg and metric. 25.00 a sheet.

Going to play with it today. See how it works.

    Ask and you shall receive.

First some thoughts on the material. My first building was an experiment to see how working with the material was going to work. It takes a little more cutting than Foamcore, probably 2x as much cutting. I had a little success with score and snap but in the end it was easier to just cut through. Plastic glue is a not go. Superglue is golden so you save a bunch of time in the glueing department but you have to be careful about placement with the superglue. PVC cement from the hardware store is probably the best option and it has a longer open time so you can play with it some. I love the fact it is sandable, and that there is no exposed foam to deal with. You could go from cut, glue, straight to prime.

I missed glue a piece in the building. I tried to split the join and the pvc broke before the superglue bond did. As a result my building is 3mm off at the 'L' but I can live with it as a learning experience.

I also have more industrial done, just no new pictures of it.

I am getting better in the layout phase, stacking like sized pieces minimizes the number of cuts and ensure regularity in size, rather than just cutting 70mm strips, and then cutting the strips to size.

100% foamed pvc. Got to love this stuff

    and shots of each side...

I went with the snazzy sci-fi windows but if I had gone with rectangles it would cut the time down even further.

I love the look of the windows but they seem a bit big. Not familiar with the game but do they need to be that big?
The reason I ask is because I've made a bunch of buildings for Mordheim and even Inquisitor and it looks/becomes kinda annoying when you are shooting through buildings all the time instead of being in them lol. Most buildings are mostly wall with some windows. Especially not floor to ceiling ones.

They look sweet tho. You think this is better than polystyrene for the price?

Also what is the plan for roofs?

Thanks for the comments and feedback. Some of the PVC Industrial would be ok for 40k but none of it is really designed to be area terrain, just lots of line-of-sight blocking stuff. You can hide most of a landraider behind the big containers though.

    Price Breakdown
one 4x8 sheet of foamed pvc is 25 after tax and comes out 7.6 pieces of 20x30 foamcore
Hobby lobby sells white foamcore 20x30 for about 3 dollars each.

So, for 4 dollars more I don't have to deal with exposed foam or extended gluing time. Well worth the 4 dollars. Comparing it sheet styrene comes out in favor of the foamed pvc as well (I think) good luck finding a 3mm piece of 4x8 sheet styrene. The evergreen plastics stuff is 7x10 (I think) and runs about 6.99 a sheet.

Foamed PVC is not a cheap as pink styrofoam however it has added durability, and isn't 1/2" thick so I think that's a win too.

    Windows
Right now the windows are all open frame, they are supposed to look stylistically modern/futuristic/etc. The windows are probably oversized and window size/placement is something I kept changing early on but just decided to go with a standard and make them all the same for the sake of consistency across the table. Eventually I'll get some smoke colored acetate and put some 'glass' in the windows so they aren't just gaping holes.

    Roofs
I had a roof cut out for the pvc building but since I glued it together wrong it through the roof measurement off as well. I need to get together a new roof design and I'll make the eaves long enough to cover the mis-glue. The roof will be detachable and have a rim on so someone on top will be able to claim cover (at least in Infinity) I also have to do a small rail on both sides of the 'L' bend. Just waiting on a large enough off cut to build the roof.

The building did get mounted to its base this afternoon, and the base to a larger piece of VCT (vinyl composite tile) to rep sidewalks with and form the footprint of the piece on the table.

Currently working on a large (~360mm by 420mm) multi-story centerpiece building.

Stairs are my next major undertaking and if I can't figure out stairs I like then every building in the future will have an elevator. Short movement skill to activate the elevate and be delivered to any floor in the building. Hackable so someone can hack an elevator your in. I'll figure out some rules for it if I have to go that route.

Also I think I'll take shot of the barricades I built. For my next update.
