As crisp as you can get it will help in selection but if it will probably still need to be cleaned up, especially if it has super details that may not transfer over to some mediums. Like if you put crazy lace work into the pommel of a word on your design, it would probably need to be simplified if it were to be made into a patch or if the logo wasn't the entire back of a shirt etc.
