    Simple Green

Hey war gamers! Just wanted to pick some people's brains on stripping paint off of older models. I acquired some models that have some paint caked on and I don't like the look too much I'd much rather give them my own paint scheme. What do you guys recommend? I heard simple green does the trick but I want to make sure that the detail still remains do you recommend double soaking if the majority doesn't strip? Should I use a rough brissle? Just wanted some thoughts on past experiences, thanks for the input if any!!

Simple Green is indeed good for stripping models. Let 'em soak in the bath for a day and then hit 'em with a toothbrush. Works every time.
Malory: Jesus, God, Sterling. School girls?!
Archer: Oh, those are just costumes.
Malory: And I suppose that makes it better?
    Archer: Doesn't it?

I like to use Super Clean, the engine degreaser. Let them soak for about 24 hours and then scrub. I save my old Sonicare toothbrush heads and let those do the hard work.

Purple Power does the job and is not as harsh as Simple Green.

Better have nitrile gloves handy if you use any engine degreaser. It will also make resin a bit wobbly if left too long. Fine for metal or plastic

Definitely use gloves and wear some safety glasses to protect your eyes from splashes. You don't want to get that stuff on your skin, much less your eyes. I have stripped FW with Super Clean and had no problems with losing details or it becoming softer than normal, but I didn't let it sit for days.

Some of the paint looks to be applied in a couple thick coats. Im hoping the majority scrubs off so I can re prime and get to work.I'm going test it out and see which works best! I just wanna make sure I advoid any solutions that would melt/warp the plastic. Thanks a lot for the info!

you might want to bring them to paint night tomorrow and get a second opinion. i would not recommend stripping for a new player unless you got consensus that the models look like crap. a coat of wash can go a long way. in addition, at least they are painted. arent you going to buy some new models to complement your army and then you will need to spend time building and painting those.

Yeah I'll bring them for Thursday to get some opinions! they don't look that bad by all means so I might leave them as is to avoid working on them since i do need to make some land raiders soon. I just like the idea of a personally painted army. Can't wait to learn some new tricks
