We could do March 5th as the start of the first round and have it be a painting day. Then first games March 12?
Are there any good small points rules around? Maybe Adepticon Combat Patrol rules for games 750 and under?

I've never done escalation before, so I just want to be clear on this. For each round, do you have to add 250 pts to the previous round's list, or can you take something entirely different round to round? The former seems like it would be more in the spirit of "escalation".
Not sure I like that. At 500 points you can't take a HQ that you would want at 1000-1500, and at the bigger points you wouldn't want to waste points or a slot on that lowly 500pt HQ. Among other issues.
I think most people are building towards a specific list at a larger size and sometime things don't break down evenly, especially at the lower points levels. Tinkering with wargear to make exact points, or change things even more if you are adding a unit that costs more than 250 points. I think all that will be ok, just to simplify building and judging.
