If you're fortunate enough to have health insurance already, it's not particularly. If you get caught between the cracks, like my wife did, that healthcare bill is the only option for getting a viable avenue of care. Like I said, I take issue with some of it, but the fact of the matter is, there are a lot of people out there that got screwed over because they can't get insurance due to a pre-existing condition, or are dropped by their provider when they come down with an illness that doesn't look so hot on someone's profit margin.
I've been hit by the pre-existing condition thing, too. When we moved we needed some tests for my son, who has hearing loss. Because we moved, we changed insurance. Just because of that, we had to make the choice of spending thousands of dollars more or waiting a year to clear the pre-existing condition clause.

See, that's totally bunk. Your son needed the care and it wasn't there for him, because of stupid mumbo jumbo, unless you forked over a ton of money that you might not even have available. My wife can't even get standard insurance now, because her illness is considered too much of a liabilty. Her only hope (aside from what she's jumping through the hoops to get right now from the healthcare plan) is to get a job with some place that offers insurance to its employees, but no one wants to hire someone that might not even be able to be reliable right now, due to their symptoms returning. That's aside from having to wait out the pre-existing condition clause, which she doesn't have time to do, because she needs surgery in about 3 months.
I just don't see how people can be okay with that system.
