Pro Painting Class with Meg Maples

Hey I'm friends with former PP painter Meg Maples. She asked me to guage interest in our neck of the woods for a two day class in the fall. Right now we're gauging interest to see if it is worth it to schedule her. She won Gold this year at Crystal Brush for her Magneto figure, which was fantastic, and has won multiple gold medals at other painting events.

Ideally the class is for 10-25 people for 2 days and the class would cost $200 per person. Her class is for all levels of painters and with the talent here in town I'm sure she can adjust her class to fit our needs.

Here's a link to her Master Class page

I've seen the results from her Australian tour of this class and I'll say the cost is well worth it.

Please post here if you're interested so I can see if this is something she'll do.

Does anybody else find it odd, by the way, that the information age has led to language becoming an oblique and imprecise tool where even the most straightforward phrasing is pored over with chicken entrails and bone tossing to divine the true meaning?

I know she came by and did a thing at clash which was neat, I'd possibly be interested depending on when it is, since it is kind of out of town for me and I would have to arrange sleeping arrangements and such.

If she has any tips for a dinosaur who still uses Testors enamels (other than "lrn2acrylic), I'd consider it.
Just assume anything I post here is meant in good humor and filled with obnoxious smiley emoticons ...

Lrn2acrylic is what she does, but it would be a great way to learn.

True, and I do like her stuff a lot. But this dinosaur's wallet is a little too thin to start over and reinvest in materials these days. Unfortunately, probably gonna have to stick with what I've got until the meteor hits ...

Hope it happens, though - it's a cool idea.

The problem i have with these is the cost. $200 is just too much money. I know shes awesome and the class may be life changing but i cant in my mind spend $200 on this. I think this is why we have had trouble in the past with these types of events

    It's a possibility. We'll see.

I get the sticker shock. Honestly I do. The cost is in line with what you'd pay at GenCon, Adepticon, Lone Star Figure Show, and Reapercon. At Lone Star the Two Day classes were $175-$250. At Cons you don't even consider that you dropped $200 to take a bunch of hobby classes, or in your case participate in a bunch of tournaments, but we do it. We wouldn't question the price if it was held as an enrichment course at UT. The real question is if becoming a better painter worth $200 to you? Having seen the results from her Australian Tour of this class I can unequivocally say yes.

I have to agree here. I'm not doubting the quality of her work but it is pricey.

This. In principle, I would love to do this, whether I learn anything new or not, it just sounds fun. But $200? That's crazy ... I would love to get better in my technique, but for that cost I could get a mortis engine, coven throne, and a large squad of crypt horrors ... that's a sizeable chunk of change, for that cost I'll stick to my own learning curve augmented by youtube videos for ideas ...
