Hogleg - "only in my head someone bought CRP's OOP Wraithlord then stuck its toe in cover."
I saw that and was like this could be interesting. It can get real close but then it gets swamped in Melee if the opponent is smart. Though it has hit and run at Int 2. Should be a fun model actually.

After reading this I have decided that the movie "Pineaple Express" should redo one of its quotes from:
"But if you do something heroic then you'll come back as like an eagle or a dragon, or Jude Law."
To:
"But if you do something heroic then you'll come back as like an eagle or a dragon, or Nick Rose."
But only for fun games

I liked it until I noticed it can fly.
SO basically this thing is an old school heldrake. but with Ap2. and shoots twice. and a haywire missile launcher. and is much tougher. and it starts on the board. and it is in a good codex.
Sounds legit.
If they remove the flight mode then it is cool though and I happy to see that their is a tau unit that sacrifices long range superiority for a much needed close quarters threat.
It's sort of fly though, can't do same flight mode back to back. So it makes "big leaping bounds" across the battlefield to get in close. I like it!

single round of flying is all it really needs. It can fly up to any unit turn 1 and vaporize it with no saves but invuls, and be nearly immune to a counter attack. next round it has a 6+2d6 move and then erases a 2nd unit. With even the most basic positioning it shouldn't have any issues staying out combat that round, and can do it all over again.
I don't think it should have that flight mode.
It already fills an amazing slot for tau by removing resilient fast units like white scar bikers, and gives tau a very powerful tool to deal with AV14 and Knights with the haywire gun.
It doesn't need to be the Heldrake 2.0 as well. That **** was retarded and doesn't need to come back.
I don't see how it could completely vaporize a well positioned unit... My overlord will smash his brains.
Yeah I don't see it dropping a knight in one turn. I mean that is a big risk. The knight charges it and just wrecks it. the 12 inches makes sure it gets close and has to in short put its self in harms way. If it kills a knight there could be a second one that just comes and eats it. It should be a fun model to play with.

...and it can take drones effectively making it a 6W model.

It won't drop a knight in 1 turn sure.
But it can easily get into the side arc and make the knight make some very difficult decisions. 3+d3 haywire shots at likely BS5 or an entire tau army. Even if it is just shooting into the ion shield that is still an amazing unit for tau who struggle with knights.
Edit - All I am saying is that this game does not need a heldrake 2.0.
