    Tournament tracker

I've been on a bit of a coding streak lately. While in the shower this morning (I do all my best thinking in the shower) I thought that there might possibly be a need/desire for a way to track tournament results and series standings. Of course, only TO's would be allowed to actually add/modify the official results. But would anyone have a problem with names being posted on something that was publicly accessible? Of course, an alias could be used instead of names. For simplicity sake, I wouldn't tie it in with the forums, so it would be up to whomever was adding the standings to keep track of that. Would you guys use it if I made it?

My question would be , in total seriousness, why would it be better than a than a shared spreadsheet on drive?

What i think is needed more is a pairing/score keeping system for actually running the tournament.

I was thinking it could be something easy to find and be more attractive than a spreadsheet. It could become the place where TO's post rules and missions. Photos could be posted. If people felt like posting batreps, that could be added.

Pairing/scoring seems like it would be pretty easy to do.

This is everything your looking for its free and is updated from time to time. I found it on a podcast and has a lot of cool features. I tried to get Davis to use it but.... Ya. this also gives everybody access to view history of events.

If you want to listen to the guy that wrote the program here is a link it is episode 112

Yup, it does, but it isn't free. There's a small cost for either the organizer or the player.

There are others out there-- many stand-alone solutions (usually a java app) but a few web-based ones that do pairings and track history.

The pairings part is fairly easy, I've done that for a while. But, in my experience of the last three to five years, most TOs just want to use what they are using now.

Would this track just DL results, all local, or GTs as well.

I was thinking something like this:

Participants - People or teams that play in the events.
Games - Includes Participants, optionally include pictures and batrep
Events - Consists of multiple games, scoring by participant or team accumulated from each game to give overall score. Could work in pairing for each round. Also, listing of other awards (painting, etc). Example: DL March
Series - An event can be attached to a series and scoring of participants rolling up from each event. Not all events have to be tied to a series. Example: DL 2015

It would be up to the TO to create the event and track the progress of the participants for the event. Tracking for a series would be handled automagically from the results of the events.

It's been a long time since I participated in a tournament, so there may be some details that I'm screwing up here. I'll gauge the interest level off of the suggestions I get here.
