You know what quitters are really good at? Excuses and justifications. If you have to justify something, you're probably wrong.
Your hyperbole doesn't change or trivialize the core issue. Someone wanted to play, the circumstances changed in a way that made them no longer enjoy the campaign, they quit the campaign. No further justification was needed.
