So, I was thinking about how to get the most out of a tomb scorpion or a bone giant. I think I figured out to clip with in the rules. It will probably lose me some sport votes, but, I think I would only use it in dire situations...However, since tomb kings suck that might be a lot...LOL!

So, the idea is to move the Tscorpion to block the bone giant from maxing models. Then, use urgency to move the bonegiant into combat in the magic phase. The bone giant could be pretty far away , as long as it is in the front arc and can only charged the minimized front side.
The bone giant would only have to face off on 1 model+support. He could easily take on some nastier things like graveguard/chosen, for at least a turn or two. A second point about this is combat reform would not be that effective vs this maneuver. As far as I have read, the reform still follows the rules of normal reforms. Therefore, you would have to reform from the center of the unit. In the above example, the best the spear block could do, is reform really wide into a 15 frontage for any hope of getting max attacks. This could open the block up to nastier charges, or could be physically impossible if I place a model in the way or the opponent's models are in the way.
Tomb kings are not the only ones that could do this. You could do this with the stubborn solo by charging a leftmost or rightmost part of a formation and then moving your rank unit to that side to charge the next turn. Woodelves, O+G, and VC could also do this with movement magic. I could see 5 direwolves marching 18" for the setup and then having a vargulf clip.
