    Blood Angels 1500

Finally have a new codex for my Orange Birdmen, so I made this list that only auto-loses 11% of the time:

    Formation: Angel's Fury Spearhead Force
Stormraven, TL Las, TL MM (x 3)
10 Tacs, Heavy Flamer, meltagun, teleport homer/BP/CS Sarge (x 3)

    Formation: Angel's Wrath Intervention Force
    5 Assault Squad, meltagun (x 2)
    5 Vanguard Vets, 4 PW, PF/SS Sarge

Both formations have to start in Reserve, but the Spearhead can come in on turn 1 and gets a reserves re-roll (hence the auto-lose 11% of the time). If the Jump Pack guys drop in within 12" of two of the embarked Sarges, they don't scatter and can assault when they arrive.

What do you think about a list that automatically loses one out of every 10 games?

I think Brandon is trying to win with a similar list at the tournament today. he's using terminators instead of assault marines though.

I thought about Terminators, or even taking two big Assault Squads and combat-squadding one so I didn't auto-lose, but then it isn't as fun. Plus the Intervention formation gives free S4 hits when it arrives from Reserves.

Does arriving via Deep Strike count as using Jump Packs in the Movement phase? If not, then it would be S4 Meteoric Impact hits, Hammer of Wrath hits and then assault.

One big drawback using formnations is that the majority of them dont get objective secured for their troops, which can be quite a pain.

Angel's Fury Spearhead gives ObSec to the Troops in that formation, which is one of the benefits: 30 scoring Furious Charge Marines. Downside is that it looks like you can't Combat Squad them ever. Oh, well.

“Each Tactical squad must include 10 models. The Sergeant of each Tactical squad in this Formation must take a teleport homer as a free upgrade. This Formation’s Tactical squads cannot take Dedicated Transports, and must begin the game embarked in the Stormraven Gunships from this Formation.

Objective Secured: All Troops units from this Formation have the Objective Secured special rule (see page 122 of Warhammer 40,000: The Rules).

Spearhead Strike Force: When making Reserve Rolls, make a single roll for the entire Formation, which you can choose to re-roll. If successful, all units arrive from the Formation. You can make a Reserve Roll for this Formation from the start of Turn 1.”

Why can't you combat squad? Read the combat squad rule in the BA book, you'll be pleasantly surprised

The formation only allows the Tac Squads to start in the Stormravens and there are three ten man squads and three Stormravens.

Surprisingly, I have indeed read the rule book.

It's not that big of a deal, just table your opponent.

I think Obsec benefits some armies more than others, basically if I have wave serpents, bikes or drop pods I want it, otherwise I think formation or codex primary detachment benefits are rad.

And the combat squads rule allows a 10 man squad to split into two 5 man squads that can ride in the same transport. It does not restrict it to a dedicated transport. You can indeed split the 30 marines from 3 10-man to 6 5-man that ride in 3 stormravens.
