ITC: Now that we have used their system what do you think.

Well, with WGC under our belt and TT hosing ITC events most of us have had at least one experience with their system. So, what do y'all think?

    Here are my thoughts:

    Pros:
    Central FAQ
    Nationwide Scoring system
    Nice folks running it

    Cons
    W/L
    FAQ needs some tweaking
    Missions are kind of bland

Hate maelstrom, W/L sucks butt, but I like the central FAQ.

I like Maelstrom but scoring it at the end of the game turn vs player turn really gives too much advantage to the player going 2nd.

Screw that. Whether it's at the end of turn or not, it's still a garbage way to play the game. Perfect example. Even when it's end of player turn, a damn jetbike can move across the table to score an objective and almost nothing you can do about it. That seems like total fun to me!!

I think most of the Cons are irrelevant because if we choose to use it locally, we can adapt ITC to match whatever we want.

Maybe the question should be "What do we change?"

Having a centralized FAQ is going to be awesome.
I love that you can win the game even if you can't win the primary mission.(mostly because **** kill points vs Knight/SuperFriends)

Maelstrom needs to be changed or removed. Scoring it at the end of the game turn is retarded. Winning/losing based on pure lucky rolls for objectives is also silly. (I am all for the RNG and bad dice costing games, but not to this extent)
Win/Loss is simply a depressing system.

I don't like some of the arbitrary rules. For instance no duplicating formations except for space marines battle company.

What kind of rule is that lol either allow it for every one or don't allow it at all.

Agree with most of the points above. Their FAQ is okay, but incomplete and containing some errors (but some of those may be moot now with new codexes).

W/L is bad, especially from as it is applied in their system, since it essentially alters the actual outcomes of the game and the quality of the outcomes, particularly with their Maelstrom portion. I don't like the limited Maelstrom. I don't really like the whole GW maelstrom system just because it is pretty boring. Stand in spot X or kill unit Y. Bleh. But that is a whole 'nother discussion.

Fixed points, formation restrictions of kind and #, gross and grosser.

So I guess the only thing about it that is a positive to me is an FAQ and the fact that some locals may appreciate the opportunity to participate in the national ranking/standings thing they do. I don't, but if others do, that's fine. But then again, for the FAQ, that is the sort of thing that could be adapted locally without joining. Wow, that was a whole lot of words to explain "whatever" as my general feeling.

That is due to the extreme space marine bias of the community.

I laughed abit when people actually thought space marines would be limited like everyone else.

I really didn't start this thread to try to rally adoption of their ranking system locally. I was really just shooting for thoughts in general and whether any bad experiences( I did hear about some) would make some of you avoid ITC events in the future.
