While the scene between Tyrion and Jaime wasn't in the books, the show is doing an excellent job of giving you the answers without the actors saying anything. I love the Viper, and it sucks to see him go ... I wish that like in the books, we were getting more of the picture of things in Dorne. It has been awhile since I read the books, but am I remembering wrong, or hadn't we already had some of the things like Darkstar and Aryo Hootah, and some other scenes of things in Dorne by now?
As for this episode, I didn't think that overall it was as good as some of the others in this season, and I thought that the Tyrion and Jamie scene talking about the mentally challenged cousin was pointless and annoying. That being said, this final scene was amazing. I absolutely love the way they portrayed Oberyn fighting, it was awesome to watch. Also, just this death ... yes, I'm a reader of the books so I know when to expect the big deaths, but I haven't gotten the "payoff" from Joffrey's death or even the Red Wedding that I did in the books. The story is great, and i got glee from watching the reactions of the non-readers ... but as far as having an absolute gut-punch moment, I thought this was the biggest one since Ned went and lost his head, and in that sense I applaud them for how they did this scene. It elicited a great emotion from me, maybe it's just because i like the character so much ... I can't wait for some of the big moments still lingering in the next two episodes though
They did this during the trial scene too with perfect subtle camera switches....I am loving those little things they add in that I don't think most people catch.
