Ok, time to apply some soothing balm to this entire affair. Some points:

1) Jwolf/Me are still the decisionmakers on the convention. Nothing has changed there.

2) Event coordinators will have control over their events subject to Jwolf - nothing has changed there.

3) Mars is simply acting as an information organizer. Nobody filled that role this year and interdepartmental communication was virtually non-existant and DID cause actual harm. There were several opportunities we could not take advantage of because the left hand would not talk to the right hand. So all communications and event managers need to get her info to her, so she can set up the master directory, project schedule and send out emails when needed. There will be a staff/volunteer forum and schedule along with centralized information for those folks to keep tabs on what is happening and when they have to have things done (just like Adepticon does).

4) The name change is due to some unfortunate marketing realities that only hit us this year. As we ramped up local marketing efforts we ran into a brick wall with feedback that "war" in the title makes media organizations reluctant to support the event. As we intend to begin to market locally and slowly expand into card games, casual games this is a real issue that needs to be dealt with.

Remember that WarGamesCon was a name invented on the fly by Jwolf and I while we were being threatened by GW. It wasn't carefully considered, but was instead literally the first name we could buy on GoDaddy we thought of while being threatened by a GW executive live on the phone. When we rolled it out it was equally lambasted by the local community - till we got used to it.

The best time for name change is never, and the second best time is yesterday. Thus the name is being changed now, right after the con so we will have a full year to get people used to it.

The TGC facebook, Google+, and Twitter feed pages are up and getting likes, the new website is being worked on and will be launched soon. It will initially highlight all the good times and history of WargamesCon, BoLScon, and the CCC. The new site will be getting full social media channels and will be actively updated and have real content and functionality compared to any of the placeholder sites we had in the past.

We have always said that we wanted a good solid convention that is run more tightly and can really grow into something that can rival Adepticon in time. This year we are making the difficult choices and making changes to at long last bring that to pass.
