    "Worst" Warmachine and Hordes choices.

Hey guys, I'm running with the idea of running the least-used options in my SR2012 lists, and I wanted to open a thread to talk about what are generally considered the worst options for each faction online. Please keep it civil and remember that just because something is on this list doesn't mean it is bad, only that the forums/online don't really like them.

Here is what I have so far:

    Cygnar:
    Constance Blaize
    Darius
    Trenchers

    Khador:
    Zerkhova
    Kossites
    Assault Kommandos

    Protectorate:
    Cinerators

    Cryx:
    Venethrax
    Corruptor
    Drudges
    Revenant Crew
    Black Ogrun Boarding Crew

    Retribution:
    Heavy Rifle Team
    Gorgon

    Trollbloods:
    Gunnbjorn
    pDoomshaper
    Blitzer
    Winter Troll
    Skinner
    Thumper

    Skorne:
    Karax

    Legion:
    Grotesques
    Scather
    Teraph

    Circle Orboros:
    Woldwyrd
    Reeves of Orboros

What are other faction's "bad" options that people can try to use in the SR2012 environment?

For Skorne, I still see people maligning the Ancestral Guardians and Immortals, but as far as the AG goes, it seems like it would be amazing for SR2012. Just run it in, park it on the objective... and that seems like some winsauce to me.

For Cygnar (and most other factions), the artillery is also decried as being terrible. People still don't seem to like the Sentinel (though I have seen Kraye supporters that enjoy using them). People also say the Firefly is overcosted, but that just seems to be a general complaint. I feel like it is worth the points when I get a triple-triangulation from some Stormsmiths that are far enough back to not die on the next turn.

Other Cygnar stuff that is "terrible": the Gun Mage Captain Adept, and there's not a lot of compliments thrown around when Finn is brought up either. Longgunners are also apparently heaped in with Trenchers. For some reason people say Kara Sloan is no good (!) because she's just a poor man's Caine?!

The more I type out, the more this stuff just seems like Internet Hyperbole shaken up in a closed environment and then left to simmer with a bunch of trolls and hot air. I don't think you should have any issue winning games and having fun with any of these models on the huge list you have.

I absolutely agree! However, this stuff does catch people by surprise sometimes, and I think that can be a really good thing.

The Trollkin Skinner just ****ing sucks though.

For Ret Housegard Riflemen are generally considered worthless outside of maybe an Ossyan list. Ossyan makes them awesomely average.

for skorne, karax aren't terrible, they just aren't nearly as good as other infantry options for the same cost. I would add immortals, I know some people use them but they just don't work well IMO. they're slow unless you take a mediocre 3 point solo, and they don't even have souls to offer the guardian who has to babysit them.

for circle, I disagree about the woldwyrd. they're actually a ton of fun, and very irritating for some opponents. double cost spells, and boosted shots against any upkeep spells is very attractive. reeves definitely aren't used much, though. and war wolves are pretty lame, especially now that gallows groves have taken over the spare 1 point slot that wolves used to fill. the argus is also not a very popular choice

Arent houseguard riflemen the ones that can CRA into melee? Seems pretty useful to me...

I'm fairly certain kossites are going to result in at least one major con win in SR2012

Other stuff that's generally considered bad:

    Khador
    decimator

    Legion

Wait a second, Frothy, are you referring to Greggle or me...?

Yes. In my opinion, the Skinner isn't worth it at all; he seems only mediocre against another Hordes army, let alone almost useless against a Warmachine faction. I've realized the main benefits I'll probably ever get from his purchase were the hobby points for the Journeyman League.

I haven't had the time to read the forums, so I'm curious. What are the arguments against (or at least not for) pDoomshaper? I've only played him once, but I enjoyed him. His feat appears awesome (even though I forgot to use it), and the extra point of Fury and the +1 'beast point seemed pretty good. But again, I chose him mainly for the model and backstory ...

I haven't played or payed any attention to my Cygnar in years. Back then the Trenchers were awesome speedbumps. What's replaced them in popularity?

And I swear, someday I'm going to make Zerkova work.

Rifleman have CRA into melee and still takes the penalty and they are RAT 5. For this they are only 2 points cheaper than Invictors and the same cost as MHSF. I don't know of many situations where you would ever take Riflemen over those two units and that's not even counting Stormfall Archers.

The long gunners really need the full unit and the UA to be worth their points I think, although I haven't used them like that. Small units are terrible.

Sloan is good at killing but not all that survivable at a times is her downfall. But man she really makes defenders shine!

Let's see the sentinel is really... I mean I know where it is useful and amazing with Kaye but you have to use it in a specific manner and it requires you to be far closer to the enemy than I feel you should be with Kraye so I dont often use it anymore unless I have the points.

Oh and since you mentioned trenchers you automatically have to put the grenadier on that list

Also you forgot the over costed and silly triumph
