Double Deuces, Tue 3/1 – Auction Variant 2500 pts (read below)

Meet at DL 5:30 for sign-up or let me know you’re coming, and I’ll add you to the list. Last one there before 6:00 gets the bye.

On the second week after a tourney, we run special fun/crazy/hobby type events. This week we’re going to be running the Auction Variant of our standard tourney. In this tourney, characters come in stripped of all magic items, and everyone spends unused army points to bid on all manner of strange and interesting items from armies they normally don’t have access to. Please adhere to the attached restrictions when building your lists. The basic principles of the Auction Variant are summarized below:
    1. No special characters
    2. Characters and units cannot have ANY magic items, runic items, big names, or gifts. Certain powers inherently tied to the identity of a character or unit may be allowed. See attached specific restrictions for details.
    3. Please reserve some amount of unused points (0-500) under the 2500 cap which will be your bidding pool to buy magical items/gifts for your characters
    4. Prior to Game 1, an extensive lot of low-grade magical items/gifts, etc of all varieties from different armies will be auctioned off—the items will be randomly determined and bundled in groups to save time.
    5. We’ll use the standard DD Dice Off system and for each die that you earn from Game 1, you will gain 100pts to your bidding pool which you may combine with whatever you did not spend from game 1.
    6. Prior to Game 2, a smaller quantity of high-end magical items/gifts, etc of all varieties from different armies will be auctioned off

Note: Once you win an item, it’s yours to do with what you want. Characters have NO points limits for the number of magic items that they can have, although the normal restrictions of type and quantity for that character still apply (for example: limit 1 weapon, 1 arcane item, wizards can’t wear armor, etc).

You are also allowed to shift any of your magic items around and change the Lore Choices of your Wizards after Game 1, as long as you set your list prior to knowning who your Game 2 opponent is.

DISCLAIMER: Please help make this work out in the spirit that it is intended, i.e. a fun and crazy hobby event. Davy and I will have ultimate override authority at the event if we come across any obscenely broken character or item combination that just makes the tourney NO FUN for anyone, but as a rule, we'll let the free market auction system take care of the balance.
