    Winsor Newton Brushes

If you are looking to step up your paint game, you might take a look at Windsor Newton's Series 7 brushes. They are more expensive than a GW brush. However, they keep a fine point much longer than a GW brush. A GW brush normally lasts me about 6 months. My first Series 7 was good for over 2 years and many, many, models. I painted 3 full armies and several smaller projects with it. Series 7 brushes were tough to find for a while. But, can now be purchased locally at King's Hobby. They had a full counter top display on Black Friday when I was there.

I love mine. I find that I most often use 00, 0, and 1. I've relegated my GW brushes to metallics and washes. I've ordered mine from Amazon at a discount off retail. It's good to know someone local sells them though.

I've use windsor newton series 7 sable for inking comic books. It really is the best brush in its size class, and is the industry standard. I've read before that it's great for mini painting so I'm looking forward try it. The brushes are litterally hard to find because they only make so many at a time, and the world will run out. there are times when I try to find them and there is no store in the USA claiming inventory

If you are having trouble finding the W&N, try the Raphael 8404, I never have trouble getting them from Dick Blick. Their brush shape is a little fuller than the W&N, so they have a slightly different feel.
